In a recent episode of JaeFriends, a talk show hosted by JYJ's Kim Jaejoong, former 2NE1 member Sandara Park, known as Dara, opened up about her unique journey into the K-Pop scene.
Before her iconic stint with the second-generation K-Pop sensation, 2NE1, Sandara Park was exploring a promising singing and acting career in the Philippines, initially making her mark through the talent show Star Circle Quest.
The Cool One: Sandara's Journey in 2NE1
Upon her return to South Korea in 2007, Sandara Park had her sights set on pursuing acting. It was during this period that she crossed paths with Kim Jaejoong, her long-time friend.
During the candid conversation on the show, Sandara Park disclosed that she wasn't originally a "fixed member" of 2NE1 when she first joined YG Entertainment. Her primary focus at the time was centered on acting auditions.
In a surprising twist, G-Dragon wholeheartedly supported Sandara's aspirations. He even went as far as accompanying her to karaoke sessions to help her hone her singing skills.
Despite Sandara's modest assessment of her progress, YG Entertainment viewed her practice video shortly afterward, stating, "She isn't great, but she's the cool one."
