Lee Hyori's Infamous 'Yellow Eyebrows' Disaster Revealed— Who's to Blame?

Earlier this month, Lee Hyori, one of South Korea's legendary divas, found herself in the spotlight for a striking new makeup look that left fans and netizens divided.

Korean netizens quickly noticed the disparity, with many suggesting that the experimental makeup had aged her and that she might have looked better without any makeup at all. Some even went as far as criticizing her makeup artist, insisting that she needed a change.

A Diva's Daring Departure from Tradition

However, a recent video on the YouTube channel Hong's MakeuPlay shed light on the true story behind the controversial makeup look. Contrary to popular belief, it was Lee Hyori herself who had a significant say in the makeup choices for the event.

In the video, Lee Hyori specifically requested an "autumn look for someone in their 40s" that was mature, sophisticated, and had a grunge and "British feel."

She even inquired about eliminating her eyebrows for a lighter look and later asked the makeup artist to draw them back in with a "strong yellow."

This peculiar request puzzled the makeup artist, who admitted she had never imagined such a look. Lee Hyori, however, stood firm, emphasizing the importance of trying something new. She acknowledged that not all her fans would appreciate the unconventional makeup but believed there would be those who did.

With the finished look, Lee Hyori departed, leaving Hong Hyun Jung with a warning about the comments that would inevitably flood in about the yellow eyebrows.

They also pointed out that different reporters at the Burberry event captured Lee Hyori in a much more flattering light, highlighting that the controversial photo was just one of many.

The revelation of Lee Hyori's active involvement in creating the look demonstrated her artistic freedom and her desire to experiment with her image, even if it meant stepping out of her comfort zone and raising a few eyebrows, quite literally.
