THIS Non-Korean Group Becomes First Act to Win Music Show Trophy in K-pop History — Who Are They?

A non-Korean group from a famous entertainment label made history as the first foreign act to win a music show trophy.

Can you guess who they are?

NiziU Secures First-Ever Music Show Win in Korea with 'HEARTRIS'

The group in question is none other than JYP Entertainment's very own Japanese group NiziU!

On November 8, the 499th episode of "Show Champion" featured numerous groups, who competed for its music show trophy.

The episode then concluded that the first-place candidates were "Baddie" by IVE, "God of Music" by SEVENTEEN, "Feel Me" by Golden Child, "Standing Next to You," by Jungkook, and "HEARTRIS" by NiziU.

At the end of the episode, NiziU ended up taking the trophy, which marked their first-ever music show win in Korea.

In a Reddit thread, netizens gathered to discuss NiziU's victory, to which they claim as the first-ever win by a non-Korean group. One fan stated:

"NiziU would be the first non-Korean group to win. Groups with no Korean members such as WayV and Hori7on have been previously nominated, but they didn't win."

"I believe NiziU is the first non-Korean group to secure a win, however, they're not the first non-Korean artist to win."

NiziU was formed by JYP Entertainment on the survival show "Nizi Project" and is the agency's first-ever Japanese girl group. The nine-membered act is comprised of Mako, Maya, Mayuka, Riku, Rima, Ayaka, Miihi, Rio, and Nina.

On June 30, 2020, NiziU officially released their pre-debut mini album "Make you happy" and its title track of the same name, alongside "Boom Boom Boom" and "Beyond the Rainbow," which were both used on the Nizi Project.

NiziU then followed up their debut single "Step and a step," trailed by hits such as "Take a picture," "CLAP CLAP," "Blue Moon," "ASOBO," "HEARTRIS," and many more.
