SNSD Sooyoung Describes Qualities of Favorite Junior Idols
On November 29, Sooyoung, a member of the "Nation's Girl Group" Girls' Generation graced the MAMA Awards 2023 stage as a winner presenter.
During her appearance, the female icon, who was introduced as an "All-Time Legend" was asked some questions as one of the senior and most experienced idols at the event such as:
"As a Girls' Generation member, is there any new singer that you especially supported?"
Hearing this, the 17-year idol didn't particularly name a certain group but she gave a sensible answer by describing her favorite junior, saying:
"As a senior, the rookie singers who are polite and greet the best are the prettiest."
She added:
"These days, everyone is just so good at music and all their skills, that the juniors I'm most attached to are the prettiest."
Choi Sooyoung Recalls Debut in Japan, Concert With Girls' Generation
Meanwhile, while standing on the stage as a presenter and not a performer, Sooyoung couldn't help but feel emotional after stepping into the Tokyo Dome in Japan once again.
"I came to Tokyo Dome for the first time in nine years. Standing here reminds me of the pink waves that SONEs made for the Girls' Generation. The memories of being with many fans and SNSD members are even more precious."
At this time, the Tokyo Dome was spectacular with pink waves by various K-pop fandoms, reminding her of the pink ocean made by SONEs before.
Choi Sooyoung was unable to speak for a moment and became teary-eyed, responding:
"It's so pretty. You're always pretty. Thank you. I will keep the pink wave that you made today deep in my heart. I feel like K-pop has come together with the moments that artists and fans cheer for, so I'm grateful once again."
She also recalled her journey when she debuted as an idol in Japan until she became an actress, giving advice to her juniors about taking challenges.
"My challenge as a singer in Japan in 2002 raised my dream, and I started an unforgettable start as Girls' Generation in 2007. Now I'm going to continue another challenge as an actress.
When you take on a new challenge like this, there are times when you have to face prejudice that you have to overcome. I think the moment I overcome obstacles and prove myself, I can really change and grow."
Hearing this, not only the audience in the crowd but the artists also cheered for Sooyoung. During the event's Day 2, top artists including SEVENTEEN, (G)I-DLE, ATEEZ, TREASURE, LE SSERAFIM, RIIZE, EL7Z UP, BOYNEXTDOOR, ZEROBADEONE, Monika and Bada Lee heated the stage with their presence and performances.
