Super Junior D&E member Eunhyuk has apologized for the unit's controversial song title for their most recent comeback.
On March 26, 2024, the duo made a comeback with the fifth mini-album, "606," and its lead single, "GGB." Pronounced "jijibe," the title immediately caused backlash due to its misognyistic and sexist origins. It is a South Korean slang term that roughly translates to "naughty girl" or "b*tch."
Following the backlash, the group cancelled music show appearances but is still appearing on entertainment broadcasts and posting on social media.
Super Junior D&E Eunhyuk Issues Apology Regarding Controversial Song Title for Their Latest Comeback
On March 27, 2024, Super Junior Heechul, Leeteuk, Yesung, and Eunhyuk appeared on the latest episode of "Radio Star."
The members appeared on the program to show their support for sub-unit D&E's (Donghae and Eunhyuk) comeback.
However, when the topic of the duo's comeback was brought up, Eunhyuk appeared hesitant. He said:
"When we unveiled the title of our new song, 'GGB,' there was some controversy surrounding it."
The idol then revealed what they meant with the title and how it differed from the actual meaning of the term. Eunhyuk told the panel:
"Our intention was to convey the sense of longing after a breakup in a cute and playful manner."
Eunhyuk then acknowledged how it could be misunderstood and apologized for causing controversy with the song title, saying:
"However, we realize now that we should have been more considerate given the current climate. We acknowledge that our oversight may have caused discomfort for some individuals, and for that, we sincerely apologize."

When asked if the duo had any plans to change the song title, Eunhyuk stated that was not an option for them. He said:
"As the production process is already complete, we are unable to make any changes. In the end, we have decided to cancel all scheduled music program appearances. While it's regrettable, we will just have to work better in the future."
Despite the controversy, the cast of "Radio Star" offered words of encouragement to Eunhyuk and requested that he showcase the choreography for the new song. However, the controversial parts of the song were edited out.
