TXT Yeonjun Apologizes After Criticism Over His 'Bad' Singing Skills

On April 11, TXT defeated ILLIT's "Magnetic" and was crowned first place for their recent release, "Deja Vu," on Mnet's "M! Countdown" music broadcast.

As TXT has been on the K-pop scene since 2019, K-pop fans have high expectations for their live performance. MOAs lauded their vocals.

Unfortunately, one member didn't reach netizens' expectations — and that was Yeonjun. According to some, he sounded "unstable" and "out-of-tune," labeling him as a "bad" singer.

To fans' defense, Yeonjun was just tired. Before filming the music broadcast, TXT came from Japan to attend a music awards ceremony.

Without rest, they hastily went to the music show filming site after landing in South Korea.

Fans also posted previous videos of TXT Yeonjun, showing his incredible singing abilities. MOAs further pointed out that he shouldn't be labeled as someone who can't sing because of one mistake.

Following this fiasco, fans attempted to hide negative comments on Weverse from Yeonjun by sending him cheering messages.

As one fan consoled the idol for his performance, Yeonjun extended his gratitutde. At the same time, he apologized for his "unsatisfactory" singing. He also promised fans to do well next time.

In particular, the fan wrote:

"Jjun~ie, wasn't it tiring to go straight to a music show right after landing in Korea? Jjun-ie is not someone who doesn't enjoy encore stages like this.

But it's okay, Jun was still the best and the coolest. It's okay to take it easy if you're feeling exhausted. It is okay if you are not feeling well and can't do well so let's quickly take a rest and let's see each other again in good health. Congratulations on winning 1st place!"

Yeonjun who was lurking on Weverse at the time then took his time to reply and wrote:

"What is this? I'm so touched. Ah, my live vocals were really bad today. I'm so sorry, MOAs. (I know) it's all an excuse and I'm just bad. I'll show you better when I have a chance to do it again, MOA. Thank you so much for winning us first place!"

After seeing this, MOAs continued to comfort Yeonjun and attested to him that he did his best and that they weren't disappointed a bit. The fandom emphasized how proud they were of the star and that he should just focus on getting his well-deserved rest.
