KATSEYE accidentally retweeted one of RIIZE's tweets, and Korean netizens have a lot to say about it.
KATSEYE is an American girl group under HYBE Corporation. Though the group has yet to release their much-anticipated debut album, they have already garnered a fan base, with fans excited to see the girl group debut. However, the reactions they are receiving now are polarizing, after the admin of their Twitter account accidentally retweeted one of RIIZE's tweets.
Keep on reading for all the details.
KATSEYE Accidentally Retweets One Of RIIZE's Tweets
On May 2, 2024, a post titled "HYBE's girl group account making a mistake" was uploaded to the well-known South Korean online community forum TheQoo.
The original poster (OP) included a screenshot of KATSEYE's activity on X (formerly Twitter). The person running the account accidentally retweeted a tweet from RIIZE, a boy group under SM Entertainment. To be specific, they retweeted RIIZE's post announcing their official fan light.
In the caption, the poster commented that HYBE's American girl group reposted the tweet, but has since taken it down.
This is an odd coincidence, as SM Entertainment and HYBE Corporation have a close relationship. Back in March 2024, it was reported that HYBE purchased 104.3 billion KRW worth of shares of SM Entertainment after the company's founder, Lee Soo Man, decided to sell his shares.
This means that HYBE is the second-largest shareholder of the company. As of writing, HYBE owns 12.6% of SM Entertainment's shares. The largest shareholder is Kakao Corp and Kakao Entertainment, with stakes of 20.8% and 19.1%, respectively.
Korean Netizens React to KATSEYE Accidentally Retweeting RIIZE's Tweet
Korean netizens couldn't help but react. The one thing that caught their attention was how KATSEYE, a girl group from HYBE, mistakenly interacted with a boy group under SM Entertainment. It paints the image that HYBE cannot leave SM Entertainment.

Some joked that HYBE loves SM Entertainment so much, and called it a "one-sided love."
This is likely due to the fact that in March 2023, HYBE attempted to acquire a larger stake in SM Entertainment, but failed to do so after Kakao's successful tender offer upped its stake to 35%. HYBE was left with no choice, selling 44% of its shares in SM Entertainment to Kakao.
Some comments read,
- "What would HYBE do without SM? They love SM so much."
- "Damn, it is SM again."
- "Can't they just leave SM alone?"
- "HYBE's one-sided love... It's sad to see."
- "Of course, it's HYBE of all companies."
- "HYBE has to bring up SM and their idols in everything they do. It's getting annoying."
- "It's SM of all companies."
- "HYBE's eternal one-sided love for SM."
- "Are they SM fans?"
