For those unaware, Burning Was was a popular nightclub situated in the Gangnam district of Seoul, South Korea. The club was owned by Seungri, a former BIGBANG member. In 2018, the club was exposed as the center of illegal activity, such as drug abuse, sexual harassment and assault, illegal filming of sexual activity (some non-consensual), and more.

While the controversy first erupted in 2018, it received renewed interest after the BBC released a documentary of the event, detailing Seungri and other prominent individual's involvement in the scandal.

Following renewed interest in the controversy, more people have their eyes on Seungri than ever. On May 22, 2024, several Hong Kong-based sources reported that the former BIGBANG member is planning to open a new nightclub in Hong Kong.


According to one netizen, Seungri was seen in Creamfields Hong Kong, a music festival in Hong Kong. They revealed that Seungri permanently resides in Hong Kong and works at a nightclub. He is planning to do business around the East Tsim Sha Tsui area.

In a screenshot from the netizen, it is revealed that Seungri is socializing with bosses of nightclubs and alcohol distributors. He is also seen with women who are "gold diggers" and had lots of plastic surgery.

Several new sources have reported on this, sparking backlash among netizens. Many detest the fact that he is making money in Hong Kong. Others slammed the ex-idol for not having no shame or guilt, and that seeing him be so eager to open a new nightclub made them sick.
