RIIZE Anton Steps Up as Big Brother, Discourages Sibling's K-Pop Dream

In a candid revelation on the latest episode of MBC's "Radio Star," veteran singer Yoon Sang shared personal insights into his family's journey through the K-pop industry, shedding light on his son ANTON's ascent in the boy group RIIZE and the unexpected challenges of parental support.

The episode, aired on June 19, saw Yoon Sang discussing ANTON's entry into K-pop, a path that began with an innocuous Instagram post by lyricist Kim Eana.

Reflecting on the origins of ANTON's debut, Yoon Sang recounted:

"It all started about four years ago when Kim Eana posted a photo of us together. ANTON gained a sudden surge of followers, which made him realize his potential."

Initially resistant to the idea of ANTON pursuing K-pop, Yoon Sang recalled his concerns.

"He was deeply involved in swimming at the time, and suddenly expressing a desire to switch careers was surprising. When I heard the melody he composed overnight for a movie soundtrack, I was amazed. It made me realize his potential in music."

Despite ANTON's successful debut and growing popularity, a new twist in the family saga has emerged with the spotlight now turning to ANTON's younger brother, who has been gaining attention for his good looks.

When asked about the possibility of his second son also venturing into K-pop, Yoon Sang revealed a conflicting sentiment.

"Initially, I was hesitant, thinking one K-pop star in the family is enough. But seeing ANTON's success and my parents' happiness changed my perspective."

However, Yoon Sang humorously disclosed that ANTON himself is less enthusiastic about his younger brother following in his footsteps.

"ANTON is actually against his brother's debut. He suggested his brother pursue something more academic."

In a moment of introspection, Yoon Sang acknowledged the evolving nature of his parental role.

"I've realized that my children's career paths are not entirely up to me. I'm learning to balance support with allowing them the freedom to pursue their dreams."

Fans then expressed their opinions on the matter.

  • "Please Debut Too"
  • "I hope fans don't compare him to his brother. That would be disappointing just saying"
  • "I pray that he will not enter the industry and be just like a normal human being like their mom."
  • "Omo lee junyeong"
  • "potentially nepobaby again"
