Hongjoong has ATINYs in tears over his kind gesture towards fellow member Seonghwa, whose grandfather has sadly passed away earlier on July 16. The exchange also displayed the strong friendship of the two idols, which fans have long adored.
On July 19, ATINYs shared their thoughts on social media platform X (Twitter) about an update from Seonghwa. According to numerous posts online, Seonghwa uploaded an Instagram Story showing a Lego set bought by Hongjoong.
The idol captioned, "(My) friend is scolding me with a gift for being gloomy and feeling low. @no1likeme8_8, thank you." Moreover, Seonghwa added ATEEZ's song "Thank U'' as the story's background music.

Upon seeing the update, fans couldn't help but express how wholesome and considerate Hongjoong's gesture was. Some mentioned their precious bond, while others pointed out that Seonghwa had used Hongjoong's verse in "Thank U."

KQ Entertainment released an official statement announcing Seonghwa's activities with ATEEZ amid his grandfather's passing. The agency first expressed its condolences to Seonghwa and his family, as well as asked fans' encouragement.
"We regret to inform you of the passing of Seonghwa's grandfather on July 15," KQ Entertainment shared. "We would like to extend our heartfelt sympathies and ask for your condolences for Seonghwa during this time, as we keep the dearly departed in our thoughts and prayers."
The agency continued, "After discussing with the company, Seonghwa will return to his U.S schedules after spending his time with his family and friends during the mourning process and funeral."
KQ then disclosed that due to the incident, Seonghwa would be unable to attend ATEEZ's "[TOWARDS THE LIGHT: WILL TO POWER] IN OAKLAND' SOUNDCHECK" on July 17, but would still perform at the concert performance as scheduled.
In other news, Hongjoong went viral for his "Twin Towers" remark during the group's "TOWARDS THE LIGHT: WILL TO POWER" concert in Tacoma Washington. Though most fans knew what it meant, a huge portion of the audience also went silent during the show.
