Viral Video of LE SSERAFIM Sakura Crying During Vocal Lessons Divide Fearnots: 'This Is Your Job...'

After a video of LE SSERAFIM's Sakura crying during vocals lessons went viral, K-pop fans shared their mixed reactions to the situation online.

On July 29, 2024, LE SSERAFIM shared the first four episodes of their documentary, "Make It Look Easy," to HYBE's official YouTube account. During one of the episodes, Sakura was seen shedding tears during a vocal lesson after her trainer asked, "Why did you lose confidence?"

She revealed that she has feared singing in front of people. During the interview, she revealed that she often wonders why she became an idol and whether being an idol is the best job for her. She stated that whenever she makes a mistake, she thinks that other talented people could have had her spot instead of her.

Sakura added that despite these thoughts, being an idol is the job that makes her the happiest. However, she developed these negative thoughts about herself after hearing negative comments. She adds that she often wonders why she has to go this far, even if she's having a hard time, and wonders what her end goal is.

The documentary also showed a video of Sakura alone in the practice room. Though she turned on the music to practice, she ended up breaking down in tears.

While fans of the idol were sympathetic, a large portion of international K-pop fans were not impressed. They stated that, as an idol, it is her job to practice and be good at singing. Many believe that being a good singer is the bare minimum requirement of being an idol and that the main essence of the job is to sing in front of others. As Sakura has been an idol for over 13 years and has debuted in three groups (KT48, IZ*ONE, and LE SSERAFIM), many slammed the idol for not improving throughout the years.

They added that even naturally talented idols push themselves to become even better. Many brought up aespa's Ningning, who is known for her amazing vocals even before she started training in SM Entertainment. During an interview, she was asked what was the longest she's practiced, to which she replied the longest was 12 hours. When the interview commented on how tough it was, Ningning replied with, "It's not tough. It's my job."

Many believe Sakura should adopt that mentality instead of feeling bad for herself.
