Girl group aespa made headlines after one of their memorable stage performances was recognized by Genius Korea.
On December 19, Genius Korea released a feature enumerating the best K-pop performances of 2024. The outlet divided its lists, with the page categorizing the overall content through stages focusing on rap, vocal, dance, and stage.
Particularly, the Stage Performance category featured various performances from K-pop acts such as ONF's "Bye My Monster" stage on M! Countdown, Lisa's "ROCKSTAR" at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, SEVENTEEN's "Rain" from the group's RIGHT HERE World Tour, and ONEUS' "Wolhamiin (Beauty Under the Moon: LUNA)" on Road to Kingdom: ACE OF ACE.
However, the No. 1 spot was claimed by aespa due to their electrifying performance at the 2024 MAMA Awards. Genius Korea praised the quartet, composed of Karina, Giselle, Winter, and NingNing, who captivated everyone with their performance.
During the event, aespa performed a ten-minute opening of their solo tracks, including NingNing's "Bored!," Winter's "Spark," Giselle's "Dopamine," and "UP" by Karina. Afterward, aespa proceeded to perform their 2024 hits "Supernova" and "Whiplash." Their performance was also described as a "MAMA Moment to Remember."
On social media, MYs expressed how proud they were of the girls for dominating the list.
