WINNER's Mino is under investigation for allegedly violating South Korea's Military Service Act after being discharged from service.
"We have made this request because there are matters that need to be confirmed by the police station," said an official from the Military Manpower Administration to TenAsia on the 26th.
According to an official from the Military Manpower Administration, if the allegations of poor performance against Song Mino are found to be true, his discharge from military service will be canceled and he will have to re-enlist and continue serving for the period in question.
Previously, Song Mino was embroiled in allegations that he did not serve properly after moving to Mapo Community Service Facility in March.
The idol was also alleged to have signed the attendance records all in one day and to have colluded with an employee in charge.
"It is difficult to confirm the details regarding the artist's service," said Mino's label, YG Entertainment, in a statement.
The agency alleged that Mino's absences were part of sick leave "an extension of the treatment he was receiving before serving, and all other vacation days were used according to regulations."
Seoul's mayor, Mayor Oh Se Hoon, issued an investigation into the attendance records of all social workers as the controversy grew.
"We will take strict measures based on the results of the investigation, and if necessary, we will suggest to the Military Manpower Administration to improve the system for fair military service obligations," Oh said.
