NewJeans' Hanni Nearly Cries On Stage At 2024 MBC Gayo Daejejeon Amid Tensions With ADOR

Hanni is gaining traction on social media after a viral clip showed her turning emotional at the 2024 MBC Gayo Daejejeon.

The Lunar New Year was celebrated by MBC, which aired the much-awaited 2024 MBC Gayo Daejejeon, also known as the MBC Music Festival. The event had a star-studded lineup of performers, including NewJeans.

During the festival, the quintet gave energetic stage performances of "Attention," "How Sweet," "Hurt," and a jazz version of their Japanese B-side track "Right Now."

The group's performances eventually made buzz online due to the members' synchronized dance moves and live singing, which drew enthusiastic cheers from the crowd.

However, on X (formerly Twitter), a fancam of Hanni went viral for showing the idol's emotional expression after their performance. In the clip, Hanni celebrated with the audience but suddenly appeared to be holding back her tears amid the applause.

NewJeans' fans, Bunnies, wrote heart-wrenching comments upon seeing the idol emotional during the stage. Some even related it to NewJeans' ongoing feud with ADOR and hoped the girls would be given a platform to showcase more of their content.

NewJeans members Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein announced the termination of their exclusive contracts with ADOR in November 2024. Since then, the girls have operated independently away from the company, despite ADOR's insistence on the validity of their contracts.

"Hanni crying after performing 'Attention' just broke me into pieces," commented one fan.

"Hoping and praying for the industry to just give these girls a platform to perform the art that they genuinely love to do," another shared.
