Yoon's acknowledgment of STAYC's previous two comebacks in 2024 sparked an online discussion due to her candidness.
In a community thread titled, A STAYC Member Mentioning That The Group Released Two Flops In A Row, the original poster (OP) uploaded a YouTube short showing Yoon on the fourth episode of Introduction to Contemplative Studies.
The episode, which included Yuqi of (G)I-DLE, focused its second segment with a face-reading session. At some point, Yoon inquired the physiognomist about STAYC's success in 2025 and mentioned the group's 2024 comebacks, which both didn't do well, as stated by the idol.
In 2024, STAYC released their first full-length album Metamorphic, which contained the title track "Cheeky Icy Thang." This was followed by a single album called ...I and its main song "GPT."
"I'm in a team called STAYC and ever since we debuted, we have always released a song that did well, and then another song that didn't do well, and so on," Yoon shared.
"But right now, we have released two flops in a row. We are preparing an album for February and we don't know if it will do well or not."
In the comments, netizens shared various takes on STAYC's situation.
Some stated that the group's new sound fails to resonate like their previous hits, while others argued that the absence of comebacks following 2023 has hindered the group's rising momentum.
"'Teddy Bear,' 'Poppy' and 'Bubble' were good but they rested too long after that," a fan shared.
"I liked 'Teddy Bear' and 'Bubble' so much and listened to them a lot but their songs lately have just been disappointing," a second fan said.
"Cheeky Icy Thang' wasn't a strong enough comeback song for them to start attracting attention again," an online user chimed in.
"I think not having comebacks during their world tour affected them. They spent a year touring and not releasing new music, groups like STAYC need to remind the general public and casual fans that they exist, they're active and their music is still as strong as it was."
