Legendary K-pop idol Eric Mun from SHINHWA and his wife, actress Na Hye Mi, have recently welcomed their second child.
The couple's agency, TOP Media, confirmed the news on March 20, noting that Hye Mi gave birth to their child the day prior. Eric and Hye Mi previously shared their pregnancy this year.
"Fortunately, both the mother and baby are healthy. With a grateful heart, we will raise our two precious sons well and healthily," the statement read.
Eric, the leader of SHINHWA, and Hye Mi first confirmed their relationship in February 2017 after years of speculation. The couple had been dating for five years, during which they went through breakups and reconciliations. They tied the knot in a private ceremony at Youngnak Church in Seoul on July 1, 2017, which was attended by family and close acquaintances.
It is notable that their relationship had initially been kept under wraps, with both parties denying rumors in 2014 to protect their privacy. However, they eventually acknowledged their relationship.
The couple welcomed their first son in March 2023.
Hye Mi began her acting career at the age of 10 with a supporting role in the 2001 film "Address Unknown." After gaining attention for her performance in the 2006 sitcom "Unstoppable High Kick," she took a break to focus on her education.
She returned to the entertainment industry as a model, endorsing brands like Samsung, Kia, and Johnson & Johnson, and gracing the covers of magazines such as Vogue and Cosmopolitan. Her acting career resumed with roles in dramas like "My Only One" (2018) and "Home for Summer" (2019), where she earned nominations for Best Supporting Actress at the Korea Drama Awards and KBS Drama Awards.
Eric debuted in 1998 as the leader and main rapper of the iconic K-pop group Shinhwa, which became one of South Korea's longest-running boy bands.
Beyond music, Eric ventured into acting, making his debut in the 2003 drama "Breathless." He gained widespread recognition for his roles in "Super Rookie" (2005) and "Another Miss Oh" (2016), earning multiple awards and nominations for his performances. Eric also founded Shinhwa Company to manage the group's activities after their hiatus.
