Nina Dobrev celebrated "Vampire Diaries" actor Paul Wesley's birthday with a pack of other cast-members...but Ian Somerhalder was MIA.

Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev recently broke up, and their interactions at ComicCon 2013 were awkward, to say the least. Perhaps the two simply couldn't stand to be together?

Somerhalder was distinctly missing in numerous images of the celebration posted on Twitter. And since there were a ton of people, it was hardly an exclusive event-and his absence was all the more notable.

Images  shared by Dorbrev and Julie Plec, the series' executive producer, show lots of the cast members having an awesome at the birthday party. "Vampire Diaries" stars including Nina Dobrev, birthday boy Paul Wesley, Candice Accola, Claire Holt, Zach Roerig and Phoebe Tonkin are laughing and giggling...but Somerhalder is nowhere to be seen.

Somerhalder even gave a shout-out to Paul Wesley on Twitter, saying he'd see him later...but in the pics, he was nowhere to be found.

"Happy Birthday to my brother @paulwesley see you in a bit buddy for a drink and a smile," Ian posted on his Twitter account @iansomerhalder.

Thus, not being in town wouldn't be a good excuse in this case-we know Somerhalder was around.

So where is he?

Prehaps Ian was just busy, and perhaps it was a snub...but it is awkward, strange, or both.

Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev will have to work with each other despite their breakup...so they'd better get used to being around each other.
