New leaked photos could reveal the next big idea by Sony for merging smartphones with high-quality photography capabilities, TheDiplomat.com reports. A series of leaked press photos came out yesterday, which show an external "lens camera" that can be attached to a smartphone.

According to the website, the lenses come with built-in sensors and an imaging processor that can attach to any Android smartphone. They will also have an SD card slot, NFC, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi capabilities, and the handset's screen becomes a digital viewfinder.

The high resolution images were leaked by SonyAlphaRumors. There were also rumors that the Honami will already feature a 20-megapixel camera.

The Diplomat reports that Sony's external lens cameras will be offered in two variations, reportedly called the DSC-QX10 and the DSC-QX100.

"The [DSC-QX10] will be the pricier big boy of the bunch. It'll hit shelves packing the same 20.2-megapixel sensor and Carl Zeiss glass found in/on Sony's powerful RX100 Mark II compact," stated PetaPixel, according to The Diplomat.

"The [DSC-QX100] will be the smaller, more affordable option that will feature an 18-megapixel 1/2.3-inch sensor and 10x optical zoom," PetaPixel continued. It will sport a 10x zoom lens, similar to the Sony WX150 point-and-shoot.

These features may bring out the photographer in every Sony Honami smartphone owner.

"With these new peripherals, Sony may finally be able to help amateur photographers close the distance on the image quality of a DSLR with a smartphone or tablet," said TechRadar.

The Honami phone is also expected to feature a 5-inch Full HD display powered by the Qualcomm quad core Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.2GHz along with 2GB of RAM, Phonesreview.co.uk reports. The biggest selling feature is expected to be the 20.7-megapixel rear facing camera, which will see the device going up against the Nokia Lumia 1020 and Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom.
