Pokemon X And Y Game Show [VIDEO]: Longer Battle Time And Mega Evolution Update

With the Pokemon X and Y demo being shown at the first Pokemon Game Show, some more updates have surfaced regarding battle gameplay and Mega Evolution.

Based on commentary by several sources, it appears that the overall opinion of Pokemon X and Y battle gameplay is that it is slightly longer than previous generations.

This is something that has been previously discussed as a potential downside to the upgraded 3DS graphics, given that much of a player's time with Pokemon game is battling or grinding to level up.

However, it seems the battle gameplay time is minute at best, and the overall presentation still outshines any burdens of seeing the fantastic attack visuals or the Pokemon X and Y 3D models.

In sampling the Pokemon Game Show demo, Pokemon fans were also able to try out Mega Evolution for the first time!

"Mega evolution was super easy and you still get to attack the turn in which you Mega Evolve. What a relief right?!" writes the Pokejungle founder.

"I see the ability to CHOOSE when you Mega Evolve as a great addition to the series because, as we've seen, some Pokemon change types which adds an element of uncertainty when facing a Pokemon who has the potential to Mega-evolve."

Can you imagine battling the Elite Four or even a Gym Leader and having their Pokemon use Mega Evolution on you? Without question, this new Pokemon X and Y feature will add a new layer of challenge on this long-running franchise.

In addition, the Pokemon Game Show revealed that the Professor has his own theme music, as do the Gym Leaders (composed by Mr. Masuda himself). And, the battle cries of several Pokemon have been changed in Pokemon X and Y.
