The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Sony Experia Z1 are both rumored to have 4k Video (Ultra High Definition) Recording Capability. They would be the first smartphones to reach the UHD level.

Samsung and Sony go full throttle in their battle for Android Smartphone Supremacy. This time, they take it to the video recording arena. According to sources cited by the Korea Economic Daily, the Samsung Galaxy Note III will come with a 4K video camera and upgraded 24 bit sound recording. That's a big leap from the 1080P and 16 bit sound recording from the previous Note.

The Galaxy Note III is scheduled for a September 4 unveiling. This is to pre-empt the IFA 2013, the world's biggest Consumer Electronics Trade Fair in Berlin, Germany which is slated at September 6-11.  However, it is believed to be released to the market immediately after. They are obviously chasing the release of the Iphone 5S this September.

The Sony Experia Z1 will has slated its unveiling at the IFA 2013, but the release date is not yet announced. The Experia Z1, nicknamed "Honami" has been leaked to have the following features:a Snapdragon 800 chip quad-core processor, a 5″ 1080p display, 2GB+ of RAM. The most notable feature is the huge camera sensor at the back of the phone. It's rumored to be a 21 MP camera that is capable of shooting in 4K.

Techies will have a field day next month as they compare and scrutinize these two units. It's a real toss-up but one thing's for sure, they are both significant upgrades from their previous editions.
