GTA V PC Release Date Uncertain As NVIDIA Denies Reports Of Fall Release: Petition For PC Version Reaches 300,000 Signatures

The highly anticipated release of the GTA V PC version was thrust to uncertainty as NVIDIA is now denying previous reports of a release date this fall. Amid the confusion, PC Gamers have launched a petition in change.org  and has reached 300,000 signatures.

Game creator Rockstar has officially announced a September 17 release date, but only for the PS4 and Xbox 360 versions. The PC version was "on the cards" but there is nothing definite yet.

The confusion arose from statements made in Nvidia's  Second Quarter Earnings Call. In that event, they mentioned that the company is anticipating the release of GTA V this autumn. It was an announcement that Rockstar didn't authorize.

Nvidia clarified that the statement made by no less than their senior director of investor relations Chris Evenden was simply a show of support  from the company to the game developers and creators in general and they merely cited GTA V as an example.

The exact statement from an Nvidia spokesperson as relayed to bit-tech.com: "This statement was made with the intent of expressing enthusiasm for the games industry in general, and was not intended to represent specific knowledge possessed by Nvidia. Nvidia does not have information on any possible PC version release of Grand Theft Auto or its availability. We deeply regret the error."

Rockstar has not issued any definite statement on an official PC Release Date. It also did not comment on Nvidia's announcement and clarification. The uncertainty has intensified the support for the petition at change.org. In early August, it has reached 300,000 signatures. The target is to reach half a million before the PS4/Xbox release date.
