Eminem new album 2013 release date was announced during a commercial on the MTV VMAs on Sunday. Eminem put out two singles from the upcoming album, “Survival,” which can be heard on the trailer for a video game and “Berzerk” which hit store shelves this week. Eminem’s new album for 2013 is called "The Marshall Mathers LP 2" (MMLP2). The name sounds like Eminem is returning to the style of his 2000 album, “The Marshall Mathers LP.” The new Eminem album was produced by Dr. Dre and the legendary producer Rick Rubin.

Eminem’s first two albums, the “Slim Shady LP” and “The Marshall Mathers LP,” changed the sound of rap and made Eminem a household name. Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers III, raged and partied and invited his fans to join him. Eminem exorcised inner demons and showed the world he had a little more than minor mother issues. Eminem also took on other big names in pop.

Eminem’s first two records shot to mega-hit status in the rap community. Eminem drew from his anger and his humor to bring his lyrics to life.

Eminem’s last album, “Recovery,” was a little short on humor, instead, Eminem took on what bugged him while offering hope for the future. Eminem’s lead single from the record, “Not Afraid,” distilled the anger into a danceable beat driven hardcore declaration of, well, Marshall Mathers.

The new Eminem album is going to get crazy. The first single is called “Berzerk” for a kick-off. Eminem is plumbing the depths of the insanity that he used to explore his 2009 album release “Relapse.” Eminem gets back his old school gangsta rap roots.

The Mirror noted, "The controversial rapper unveiled the gritty tune which has some serious Beastie Boys vibes online. It's vintage Slim Shady with a darker beat and more witty lyrics than his most recent work which will no doubt leave fans eager to hear the rest of his new music later this year."

Eminem’s other new single, "Survival," wasn’t quite the explosion that he’s been promising. It imposed hope on anger.

Eminem’s new album hits the store shelves on Nov. 5.
