Star Wars 7 Rumors: Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher And Mark Hamill To Come Back As Han Solo, Princess Leia And Luke Skywalker?

Star Wars 7 rumors continue to circulate, and that's no surprise since Disney, Lucasfilms, and Bad Robot have been nothing but tight-lipped about the whole project.  But ScreenRant has quoted Kathleen Kennedy, the president of Lucasfilm, on a few interesting tidbits about this highly-anticipated film.

She said, "The story and characters are all we're talking about right now. We have an amazing team at ILM, who can create fantastic effects, but if we don't have a great story and characters, the effects mean nothing."

Many would agree, of course.  She added, "I do think making huge popular culture - and I've had the good fortune to be a part of a lot it - is really hard to do and get right. And if you don't spend the time you need on developing characters, and finding stories, complicated stories, the audience gets tired because they think they're seeing the same thing again and again."

So given what Kennedy said, followers can expect something that's not quite the same from the rest of the Star Wars movies.  But if rumors are to be believed, the new episode will feature some very familiar faces from the original film, namely Harrison Ford as Han Solo, Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia, and Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker.

George Lucas did say to Bloomberg Businessnews last March, "We had already signed Mark and Carrie and Harrison - or were pretty much in the final stages of negotiation."

Then he said, "Maybe I'm not supposed to say that. I think they want to announce that with some big whoop-de-do."

The actors will be 36 years older from when they first played their characters in the 1977 movie, but it is believed that the next installment is set at the time after "Return of the Jedi," released in 1983.  It makes sense, therefore, that these three would be present in the new episode.

Buzz is also going around that Rachel Hurd-Wood (Perfume: The Story of a Murderer ) and Alex Pettyfer (Magic Mike) have auditioned for parts on the film.  This is according to Latino Review and Metro.  Other names have also come up, including Ryan Gosling, Zac Efron and Leonardo DiCaprio, but no confirmation has come out.

Few things are certain, though: one, JJ Abrams is directing; two, Michael Arndt is writing the script; and three, George Lucas is Creative Consultant.

There are also Star Wars 7 rumors that instead of Summer 2015, the movie will be shown at a later date.  As all other info on the film, fans will just have to wait and see.
