Nokia may not reach the top of the smartphone battle alongside Samsung and Apple, but it is still an innovative and niche-oriented manufacturer. And now it aims to cement its status as the king of camera phones as it is set to release the Amber update for its Windows Phone 8-powered phones. 

According to Techno Buffalo, Nokia posted on its Conversations Blog in order to address and clear out some details regarding the release of its Amber update for WP and its Lumia lineup. The finnish company promised its consumers that they would receive the update before the end of September. 

Some of the new features that customers will have to wait for are advanced image processing capabilities, a photo-editing tool, and other features which would definitely bring smartphone photography to a whole new level. 

In addition, the Amber update will also have the "Glance Screen" feature similar to Motorola's "Active Display", an FM radio player, flip to silence, a battery usage tool, and other neat additions. 

Earlier this year, Nokia greatly changed the smartphone camera landscape when it released the Lumia 1020, which features a 41-megapixel rear camera. It seems the manufacturer would settle in becoming the world's best cameraphone. 

Let us just hope Nokia stays true to its word for the Amber update release before October.
