Avengers 2 Cast REVEALED: ‘Boston Legal’ James Spader As Super Villain Ultron; Robert Downey, Jr.,Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, And Other Original Members To Reprise Superhero Roles

Avengers 2 movie, entitled "Avenger's: Age of Ultron," the second installment to the Avengers movie franchise, will feature James Spader as supervillain Ultron.  This was confirmed on August 29 by Marvel in its official website and Facebook page.

Marvel.com announced, "James Spader will face off against Earth's Mightiest Heroes as the villain in Marvel's 'Avengers: Age of Ultron,' the sequel to 2012's record-breaking 'Marvel's The Avengers.'"

James Spader is best known for his role as William N. Bilbo in "LIncoln" and as Alan Shore in "Boston Legal" and "The Practice."  He will play the antagonist in the upcoming superhero film, and he will be one foe to defeat.

Marvel says, "'Avengers: Age of Ultron' will bring the Marvel Universe's biggest heroes together again to face one of their biggest villains, with 'Marvel's The Avengers,' director Joss Whedon returning to write and direct the sequel."

Ultron is a robotic villain who's gone through a lot of changes through his years in the Marvel comic books - 45 years since his cameo appearance in an Avengers issue in 1968.  In the upcoming movie, fans would probably see a different version - or at least, that of his origins - based on director Joss Whedon's interview during the 2013 San Diego ComicCon International.

He said, "We're doing our own version of the origin story of Ultron.... We were crafting our own version of it where [Ultron's] own origin comes more directly from the Avengers we already know about."

Whedon also directed the first Avengers film.  And he is not the only one to return to Avengers 2.  Robert Downy, Jr. reprises his role as Iron Man, as would Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Chris Evans (Captain America), Mark Ruffalo (the Hulk), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), and Samuel Jackson (Nick Fury).  Coby Smulders also returns as Agent Maria Hill; and it is rumoured that Elizabeth Olsen will play Scarlet Witch and Anthony Mackie will play The Falcon, although these have yet to be confirmed.  Aaron Taylor-Johnson will be portraying the role of Quicksilver.

Avengers: Age of Ultron comes to theaters on May 1, 2015.
