Nexus 5 Release Date: October Release For New Device Rumored, Nexus 4 Price Cut And Influencer Leak Signals Nearing Launch Date

Nexus 5 release date could well be for October, and Kristin Mariano of the International Business Times has cited several reasons why the tech giant will release the highly anticipated follow-up to the Nexus 4 that month.

According to the Business Times, the Google Nexus 5 release date is expected to happen this October, a year after the company introduced the LG Nexus 4.

Various evidences support this idea that the next model of the Nexus 4 is coming soon, according to the report. One proof is the extensive price cut on the LG Nexus 4. Google slashed $100 off the price of the LG Nexus 4 without the required two-year contract with a carrier. The price of an 8GB model of LG Nexus 4 is now at $200, while the 16GB would only cost $250.

Tips and hints from people in the know, who are very familiar with the upcoming device, also gave way to the immense speculation. One of the key insiders that fueled the Google Nexus 5 rumor is Taylor Wimberly’s Google plus, a notable tech influencer who has been correct with some of his predictions. He posted that Motorola is now working on the fifth Nexus smartphone.

The last evidence, according to the Business Times, is that Google’s operating system is celebrating its fifth anniversary this year. With the goal of commemorating the event, the company is expected to celebrate with a new hardware.

PC Advisor earlier reported that the Nexus 5 will also be one of the first device to carry the Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie.

Other rumored specs for the new Nexus 5 include a Full HD screen that is either 5in or 2in in size, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor clocked at 2.3GHz and a breakthrough standard of 3GB of RAM for the smartphone. It’s also reported that it will have a 16MP camera made by Nikon.
