Kate Upton Is 2013 Model Of The Year After Back-To-Back Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Covers, Will Receive Tiffany & Co. Designed Award At New York Fashion Week

Kate Upton was named 2013 Model of the Year, and will receive an award designed by Tiffany & Co. at the 10th Annual Style Awards, at the New York Fashion Week starting on September 4. She is known for her Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue covers.

21-year-old Kate Upton first rose to fame from her Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue appearance in 2011, The Hollywood Gossip.com reports.

After this appearance, she was named the Sports Illustrated Rookie of the Year, Webpronews.com reports.

Kate Upton then landed on the swimsuit cover the following year, and this February became the first back-to-back Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover girl since Tyra Banks (1996-97), the website notes.

When Upton found out that she was going to be on the cover of the 2012 issue, she said: "I have had a great year. For me, this is groundbreaking," Webpronews.com reports.

Aside from Upton, nine others will receive awards for their contributions to fashion as well. The other recipients are: Zac Posen, Victor Cruz, Frederic Fekkai, Patrick DeMarchelier, Rachel Zoe, John Varvatos, Trish Summerville, Janie Bryant and Victoria's Secret, according to Webpronews.com.

"We are extremely excited to honor and celebrate the incredible talent at this year's show. We have truly merged the worlds of fashion and entertainment," said Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, the President and Executive Producer of the Style Awards.
