Christina Hendricks, `Mad Men’s’ Hot Star Will Keep Her Clothes on in ‘Dark Places’; Was Set To Play Stripper, Will Now Play Charlize Theron’s Murdered Mom

Christina Hendricks, “Mad Men’s” hot star has changed roles in the upcoming movie adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s “Dark Places.” Christina Hendricks was originally supposed to play a stripper, but she will be keeping her clothes on. Christina Hendricks now will play Patty Day, Charline Theron’s mother.

Christina Hendricks isn’t going to play the stripper role, she will stead be playing the role of Charlize Theron’s murdered mother. “Dark Places” was written and will be directed by Gilles Paquet-Brenner.

Vulture reported that the role is more significant. Christina Hendricks will appear in a number of flashback scenes that happen throughout “Dark Places.” The Inquisitr reported that production on “Dark Places” has already begun.

Christina Hendricks wasn’t the first choice to play Charlize Theron’s mother. Origianlly the part was going to be played by Samantha Morton. When Morton left the production, Christina Hendricks stepped in.

“Dark Places” is about a woman who has to go back to the scene of the massacre of her family years after the murders happened. During the murder trial the woman’s brother was found guilty of the slayings, but a secret society takes it on themselves to find a few dark secrets.

“Dark Places” will also feature Chloe Grace Moretz, from “Kick-Ass 2” and Nicholas Hoult from “Warm Bodies” along with Christina Hendricks and Charlize Theron.

Producers have not yet cast the role of the stripper, named Krissi Cates.

Exclusive Media, Cuatro Plus Films, Denver & Delilah, Hugo Productions and Mandalay Vision began shooting last week in Louisiana.

The adaptation of Flynn’s novel is expected to arrive in theaters at some point next year.
