"The Vampire Diaries" star Nina Dobrev revealed some spoilers about season 5 and her character Elena Gilbert's relationship with Stefan. Stefan and Elena fans of "The Vampire Diaries" may still have hope.

The last time we saw our favorite characters of "The Vampire Diaries," Elena and Damon were falling in love and Stefan was locked in a safe at the bottom of the lake. Though Stefan and Elena had an "epic love," it seemed like Elena had moved on and instead was hopelessly infatuated with his older brother, Damon.

But not all hope is lost, Stelena fans.

Stefan and Elena still share, "this cosmic connection you have with someone that you've spent so much time with, and I don't know if that will go away," Nina Dobrev said in a spoiler sesh with TV Guide.

We speculate this means that Elena might have a sense that things aren't right in Mystic Falls, and that Silas (who is disguised as Stefan), isn't the real Stefan, but that something is amiss.

"She has this weird feeling something is going on," Dobrev said about her character, Elena.

"And when she finds out what he's been through, it's not easy for her," she added, referring to Stefan's plight.

But then Dobrev confuses fans by saying, "She knows she's in love with Damon, but she still cares for Stefan and wants to make sure he's OK."

Sounds like the love triangle is still very much intact in season 5 of "The Vampire Diaries."

Executive producer Julie Plec said Stefan's storyline adds to intensity of the season, Wetpaint reports.

"The Stefan storyline in episode one is really moving, and keeps alive that sense of his strong feelings for both his brother and for Elena," she said.

Season 5 of "The Vampire Diaries" is set to debut on the CW, Thursday night, October 3rd.
