Samsung Galaxy 3 Smartwatch Specs, Release Date, Apps Unveiled: Watch It Go!

The Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch specs and release have been unveiled after an endless series of leaks.

The Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch will be about the size of a normal watch, but pack a lot of punch.  The Android device will function much like a phone...without needing to touch a phone.

The Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch will sport a 63-inch AMOLED touchscreen display, 1.9-megapixel 'Memographer' camera, and Bluetooth.

The Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch will have voice control to carry out functions like operating apps, turning music on, and even making or receiving calls and sending messages.

The Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch will be released Sept 25 and come in a virtual rainbow of colors: Jet Black, Mocha Gray, Wild Orange, Oatmeal Beige, Rose Gold, and Lime Green. The Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch will be priced at $299.

In addition, Samsung has teamed up with Glympse and Path so that users can share photos and leave messages or post their location for friends and family using Path in seconds.

When the Galaxy Gear launches, it will only work with the Note 3 and Note 10.1, disappointing many fans. Later in the year, it will be compatible with the Galaxy S4 after it gets a software update to Android 4.3.

There will be about 70 apps at launch of the Galaxy Gear. Some include MyFitnessPal, Samsung-specific apps, and Highlight, which allows users to connect with other users close by. Another app fans are excited is Handshake Memory.
