Chinese Eye-Gouging Case: Boy’s Aunt Suspected, Rather Than Black-Market Organ Harvest On Six-Year-Old Boy

The Chinese boy, Guo Bin, who had his eyes gouged out may have been the victim of his aunt, officials in China say.

The eye-gouging case shocked China...and now there's a grim twist on an already gruesome story.

The six-year-old boy was playing outside in rural Shanxi provience, China. The boy was lead into a field by a woman with yellow-dyed hair.

The woman gouged out the boy's eyes and left him lying in a pool of his own blood.

Chinse police say they found the boy's blood on the aunt's clothes, and DNA tests have confirmed it, police in Linfen said.

However, police will not be able to prosecute the aunt.

Zhang Huiying, the aunt, killed herself six days after the attack on her nephew by jumping into a well.

Last week, police thought that the attack was linked to China's black market for organs, as the corneas were thought to be missing. However, in the end they were not.

Users on China's social networking site Sina Weibo expressed disappointment and shock in the eye-gouging case, particularly after the aunt was found.

"Now it turns out the person who destroyed this child's whole life may be a close relative," wrote one user of the microblog site. "It's hard not to feel helpless and bitterly disappointed... how painful."
