New Pokemon X And Y Trailer Features Orot And Sudowoodo: Hint At Evolution, Prevolution Connection?

A new Pokemon X and Y trailer has surfaced online, and while it doesn't feature any Pokedex reveals or Mega Evolution updates, it does offer a subtle hint at an unlikely connection between two Pokemon: Sudowoodo and Orot.

In the Japanese, we can see some already revealed Kalos Pokedex additions, like Sylveon and Noivern, but in addition, we get another scene from a horde battle.

The horde features a Helioptile facing off against a group of Orot, whose type remains a mystery, but we also see a familiar face in Sudowoodo from Pokemon Gold and Silver.

Now, this could be a harmless grouping of random Pokemon, but as we've seen in previous horde battle encounters, the grouping of Pokemon are generally related.

For example, a horde battle has been seen in a previous Pokemon X and Y trailer which feature Tauros and Miltank, no doubt due to their bovine connections.

And certainly, Orot and Sudowoodo look similar. However, Sudowoodo is a rock-type Pokemon, and it is fairly certain that Orot will have be grass-type, perhaps in combination with another type.

After the release of the trailer, fans have been theorizing as to the inclusion of Sudowoodo with Orot, and several theories seem prominent.

"Maybe we'll have a Tyrogue/Hitmonchan/Hitmonlee kind of thing going on..." writes Bombeiro on Pokejungle.

"Probably there will be a common prevolution and we had the same thing with Tauros and Miltank that are also appearing together in horde battles."

"Perhaps Sudowoodo evolves into that new tree Pokemon? That'd be pretty neat!" writes EnterXcaliborg on YouTube.

Or perhaps, it is simply a habitat coincident. Either way, the Pokemon X and Y trailer helps hype up the upcoming 3DS release.
