` Fifty Shades of Grey’ Casting Draws Protests; Fans Still Want Alexis Bledel and Matt Bomer

“Fifty Shades of Grey” casting left Alexis Bledel fans disappointed. “Gilmore Girl” aficionados launched an online petition protesting “Fifty Shades of Grey” casting.

“Fifty Shades of Grey” fans are still adamant that they want to see Alexis Bledel and Matt Bomer instead of Dakota Johnson and Charlie Hunnam. “Fifty Shades of Grey” writer E.L. James tweeted the news this week that Dakota Johnson and Charlie Hunnam are set to play Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey in the big-screen version of “Fifty Shades of Grey”.

“Fifty Shades of Grey” devotees took their campaign to Change.org, a web platform, to let the masters of the film know they get no pleasure from the casting of Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson the movie that will be directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson. So far, more than 17,000 people have lent their names in the appeal to replece them with Alexis Bledel and Matt Bomer.

The Change.org petition says: "Matt Bomer is the PERFECT DESCRIPTION OF CHRISTIAN GREY AND ALEXIS BLEDEL IS THE PERFECT ACTRESS TO REPRESENT ANASTASIA STEELE and if THEY ARE NOT, NOBODY WILL BE And I read the whole trilogy and I can assure that Matt is the perfect actor for this movie and Alexis too. So please PLEASE, all of the GREYsessed and Bomerettes in the world NEED those actors. They always will be for us the Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele. WE CAN DO ANYTHING GUYS, ANYTHING."

Everyone loves Alexis Bledel and would love to see her onscreen deflowering in what will certainly cement her as an A-List actress. Alexis Bledel is best known as Rory Gilmore on “Gilmore Girls” and for her role as the streetwalker in “Sin City.”

Matt Bomer is the top on most fan polls to play the dominant Christian Grey. Matt Bomer is best known for his supporting roles in “Magic Mike” and “In Time.” Bomer also played in the TV series “White Collar.”

The erotic drama “Fifty Shades of Grey” has sold over 70 million copies around the world. “Fifty Shades of Grey” author E.L. James put out her tweet that Hunnam and Johnson were cast as kinky billionaire Christian Grey and virgin student Anastasia Steele on Monday. This followed 18 months of gossip and speculation about casting rumors.

Dana Brunetti, the producer of “Fifty Shades of Grey,” took to Twitter to explain "There is a lot that goes into casting that isn't just looks. Talent, availability, their desire to do it, chemistry with other actor, etc. So if your favourite wasn't cast, then it is most likely due to something on that list. Keep that in mind while hating and keep perspective."

This isn’t the first time social networks have been used to influence “Fifty Shades of Grey” decisions. Last year, novelist Bret Easton Ellis, tried to get the job or writing the movie and mounted a high-profile campaign land it. Ellis said Bomer and Ian Somerhalder, another favorite for the fans, were never in the running for the part. He said, "EL James and I were at Rob Pattinson's house when she admitted that Rob was first choice for Christian. Ian Somerhalder never in running," he tweeted. "Matt Bomer was [also] never in the running."
