Fifty Shades of Grey Cast Rumours: How Does Author E.L. James Feel After Her First Choice, Robert Pattinson, Wasn’t Chosen To Play Christian Grey?

Fans of the famed novel are still reeling after the announcement of the film adaptation's official cast. Since last year, excited readers of the trilogy can't help but have staggering expectations on who will play their favorite characters.

While many seem pleased with Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele, fans have expressed their disappointment for the chosen Christian Grey - the 'Pacific Rim' actor Charlie Hunnam.

The novel portrays Mr. Grey as a dreamy business magnate whose eyes alone can already seduce anyone. People thought that the lead role will eventually be seized by Ryan Gosling, Henry Cavill, Ian Somerhalder or Matt Bomer. Nonetheless, these actors have never been seriously considered for the role.

The first choice of E.L. James is actually the British heartthrob Robert Pattinson. Bret Easton Ellis, one of the author friends of James's, previously tweeted:

"Talked to E.L. James at a party over the summer: her first choice for Christian was Rob Pattinson."

Bet Easton Ellis made another tweet confirming this:

The 'Water For Elephants' actor will not have problems doing the steamy scenes required by the story since he already appeared in a sexy Dior Homme commercial with supermodel Camille Rowe. He is also currently filming love scenes for his upcoming flick 'Map Of The Stars' with Australian actress Mia Wasikowski.

While it was James who revealed the official casting choice last Monday, she did not comment yet about Pattinson not being regarded as the perfect Mr. Grey. She has only hinted that fans should respect the decision since both Hunnam and Johnson are brilliant artists.
