Upcoming Android Devices: Qualcomm Announces Own Smartwatch, Uses Ambient Light As Backlight, Can Run Up To 3 Days

While Samsung was busy announcing its Galaxy Gear during its press conference in the IFA event in Berlin, Qualcomm unveiled its own version of the smart watch.

Dubbed as the "Toq" (mentioned as 'talk'), Qualcomm's own device prides itself in efficient power-saving features which would certainly turn heads. Compared to Galaxy Gear's "impressive" 25-hour battery time, the Toq can last up to 3 days on a single charge, or so Qualcomm claims.

But what makes it a super efficient power saving device? Just check out the Mirasol display. According to Qualcomm, this display enables the device to use ambient light as backlight for the device, thus saving more energy. What's more is that the user does not need to tap or push anything before he can see what the display shows.

Just a glance will do.

Similar to the Galaxy Gear, the Toq can also be connected to your Android phone via Bluetooth and it pull any notifications you have on your phone. Users can also make calls, read messages, and listen to music through a pair of wireless Bluetooth headset.

The Toq as well as its accompanying headset also supports wireless charging. You just need to place them in their respective cases.

According to GSM Arena, the Qualcomm Toq may hit the shelves at $300.
