Luke Cage Movie News Terry Crews Will Not Take The Role; Marvel Has Ignored Promising Project

The Luke Cage Movie has not made any progress. Terry Crews who was always rumored for the role has staunchly refused, but wonders why Marvel  sat on a promising project.

Luke Cage (Power Man) has become a major character in the Marvel Universe, and he even became the leader of the New Avengers. He is seen as a good film prospect as well. There were already plans of making a LukeCage movie, but it seems to have hit a snag.

From a physical standpoint, the most obvious prospect to play Luke Cage is Terry Crews. Yet he has sternly refused. In an interview with Black Film, he says: "I'm trying to take myself outta that running. Because everybody's like, 'I want to play this superhero character, that superhero character'. I'd rather make up my own. Make a brand new one, you know. 'Blade' was basically a failed character. That comic book didn't do very well....I think everybody's is forcing this 'Power Man', Luke Cage thing. Man, it's obvious, Marvel, for some reason, is not getting down with it. He's being ignored. Hey man, he was probably in the Avengers. What can I say? You can't force it on him. The market's going to tell you what's going on. So apparently they felt like, 'we don't really have to.' I know they're bringing the Falcon in on one of these."

The statement "We don't really have to," alludes to a recent interview with Stan Lee. The complete version: "The thing is, the women like these movies as much as the guys, so we don't have to knock ourselves out to find a female," Lee recently said, and it drew strong reaction from the netizens.

If and when Marvel does make a Power Man/Luke Cage movie, there are now numerous young, talented black actors who would definitely love to take on the role.
