Legend Of Korra Season 2 Ratings Slip Continues: Will 'Civil Wars Part 2' Change The Tide?

As "The Legend of Korra" season 2 continues, the concern over its low ratings is growing.

While "The Legend of Korra" season 2 premiere posted a 2.6 million views, the following saw an bigger drop in ratings, with only 2.19 million viewers tuning in for "Civil Wars Part 1."

In terms of ratings and viewership, this is an all-time low for "The Legend of Korra."

These numbers may seem tolerable to some, but as a comparison, "The Legend of Korra" season 1 premiere garnered 4.55 million viewers.

As Avatar the Legend of Korra notes, there are several explanations that could have caused such a massive dip in ratings.

"To say that Book 2's ratings declined because Nickelodeon's ratings declined doesn't paint the full picture," writes Keval. "I think it's because Nickelodeon decided to air episodes on Friday nights - a.k.a the most inconvenient time to watch television as a teenager."

"It's almost like Nickelodeon doesn't know their demographics. The Legend of Korra is viewed by teenagers and adults - not just kids. The Saturday morning time slot was perfect because it accommodated all ages of viewers."

Granted, a drop in ratings might not affect "The Legend of Korra" the way it might other shows. As season 2 continues, both season 3 and 4 have been commissioned, and production work is already underway for season 4.

With this much financial backing, Nickelodeon will likely not cancel the series, but "The Legend of Korra" season 2 remains an important lead-in for future endeavors in terms of promotional potential, merchandising, and many other factors which low ratings could affect.

With "Civil Wars Part 2" airing tomorrow, hopefully ratings begin the stabilize and perhaps increase as times go by.
