Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Release Date: 4K Ultra HD Video Standard For U.S. Model Unlikely, Launching Oct. 2 With T-Mobile

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 release date for U.S. carriers begins tomorrow, October 2, when T-Mobile will have the phablet available in its stores. According to the International Business Times, it’ll be available in Jet Black and Classic White options. The T-Mobile Galaxy Note 3 will cost $199.99 upfront with 24 monthly payments of $21. The full-price for the T-Mobile Galaxy Note 3 is $703.99.

AT&T will follow suit on October 4 together with Sprint, while Verizon and U.S. Cellular have also indicated that they will be carrying the device. Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is also available unlocked via Amazon, Best Buy and Radio Shack.

This 4K Ultra HD video standard specification is unlikely for all the U.S. models since the most recent confirmed spec for the Galaxy Note 3’s U.S. models is the Full HD display option. Keeping in line with all the recent smartphones, Samsung has given the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 a full HD 1080p resolution for extreme color and clarity. But according to the International Business Times, Asia’s largest technology company may upped the ante by making the Note 3 available in 4K Ultra HD video recording for select models.

The 4K Ultra HD video standard often refers to a display resolution that has approximately 4,000 horizontal pixels, which is a significant jump from the 1080p video consumers see in Full HD mobile devices.

Aside from the possible upgraded specs on the video recording capabilities for models that will be released in other countries, the new Samsung Galaxy Note 3 also has an enlarged 5.7in display. Samsung has kept the rest of the device the same size as its predecessor expanding the display as they have recently been aiming for with all their successor models. This means users should look forward to a much narrower bezel despite the generous Super AMOLED display size.

According to Know Your Mobile, Samsung has chosen a faux leather back panel that is soft to the touch with fine stitching that is appealing to the eye. The South Korean tech giant ensured that they used synthetic leather that you can easily clean. This is deemed a step in the right directions by many users and critics who were not fans of the plastic used on former handsets. The plastic according to Know Your Mobile was slippery and gave the device a cheap look. The new back panel on the other hand feels solid in the hand and offers some good gripping.

Know Your Mobile also stated that Samsung intends to rollout the Galaxy Note 3 with quite a wide variety of interchangeable back panels that come in a host of colors and accessories. There are a minimum of 10 colors to choose from and even a cover that spots a window for easy glancing.

When it comes to performance KYM reports that Samsung made use of the Snapdragon 800 Quad-core chip from Qualcomm. This has greatly made the UI smooth and very responsive. Users will be able to rapidly weave through their windowed apps and easily multitask on a larger scale. It also comes with a scrapbook feature that allows easy storing, finding and opening of information.

KYM reports that Samsung has also added an Air Command Feature. This will let users open a radial control wheel that will allow them to use the S-Pen commands without touching the screen. KYM describes the Galaxy Note 3 is a definite win but did not comment on other features such as the camera or the available S-Pen functions.
