LG G Pad 8.3 release date is yet to be announced, but the reviews has poured in for the device when it was unveiled by the South Korean electronics manufacturer at IFA Berlin. Some of the biggest websites in the planet, CNET, Phone Arena and Android Central gave their take on the iPad Mini-competitor.

As a backgrounder, the LG G Pad 8.3 has an impressive 1,920x1,200 pixel resolution, which is the same as the display of the 2013 Galaxy Nexus 7. It also has a quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM along with 16GB internal storage capacity. CNET noted that LG G Pad 8.3 is the first tablet from the company with a Full HD screen.

The Android-powered tablet runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. There have been no news if this will upgraded to Android 4.4 KitKat once the mobile OS has become available.

The battery backup of the tablet is a 4,600 mAh and the gadget only weighs 338 grams. The main camera of the LG G Pad 8.3 is only 5 megapixels with the front facing camera having a 1.3 megapixel camera.

The lightweight device is slim and can be carried in one hand, according to the reviews. “One of the very best IPS screens we have ever seen,” was the statement Ray of Phone Arena said when describing the device’s display in the video.

Android Central showed the striking similarity of the LG G 2 and LG G Pad 8.3, in terms of design. According to the site’s reviewer, “they’re obvious cousins.” The Android Central also showed how both the LG G Pad 8.3 and LG G 2 has very similar user interface, including pull down and notifications. The Android-focused site attempted to implement the QPair on the tablet and their LG G 2, which will basically both devices to interact with each other.

Andrew Hoyle of CNET also cites the lightweight of the LG G Pad 8.3 and the resolution to be “satisfyingly crisp” and “good enough for watching Netflix movies.” Like all the other reviewers, the CNET review noted that the price of the tablet is still unknown and has yet to have an official U.S. release date.

CNET, however, said that for it to be competitive against the Nexus 7 “it needs to be quite affordable.”
