iPad 5, iPad Mini 2 Release Date: New iPads Rumored To Boast 8MP Camera, Similar Features To iPhone 5S

For the past months, rumor has it that Apple would hold an event this month to unveil its next generation tablets. And while we are waiting for the company's official announcement, here's another rumor regarding the iPad 5 and iPad mini 2 release date and alleged specs.

According to KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo as reported by MacRumors, Apple's upcoming tablets may boast 8MP rear cameras, an improvement to the 5-megapixel shooters of the previous generation.

In addition, the said sensors may also get a boost in aperture, making the shooters similar to that of the iPhone 5S. If that would be the case, it could also mean that both the upcoming iPad 5 and iPad mini 2 may get similar camera features such as the new iPhone's famed 120fps Slow-Mo video.

While the iPad 5 may be sure to hit the shelves by the end of the year according to rumors, the iPad mini 2 may not get the same fate. Several unnamed sources told Reuters that Retina display production for the next generation iPad mini has just begun, resulting in very limited stocks by the end of the year, which could mean it would hit the stores early next year.

As usual, Apple is tight-lipped about the issue.
