LG Flexible Display Smartphone Will Be Named G Flex, To Be Launched Before The Year Ends

Yesterday, reports from several tech blogs mentioned that Korean rivals Samsung and LG are going to launch their respective smartphones with flexible displays this month. In addition, LG's device would be oddly named LG Z. Another source claims both rumors to be false.

According to some sources close to LG which are familiar to the plan, the Korean manufacturer would name the smartphone G Flex, and will pack a Plastic OLED (POLED) display that the company showcased earlier this year.

Further details about the upcoming flexible phone was previously mentioned in an earlier report, but if what this source claims is true, then we might disregard those rumors as well.

According to The Next Web, the image above is allegedly a patent filing with the Korea Patent Office for the concept of flexible handset design.

Samsung and LG are two of the world's most innovative companies in terms of producing new hardware and supplies for OEMs. And with the year drawing to a close, we would expect these two to unleash their final hurrah before 2013 ends.
