Google Nexus 5 Release Date: Rumors Suggest New Android Device Arriving October, To Be Made By LG, Powered By KitKat And Will Have 4.96-inch Screen

Google Nexus 5 release date according to rumors suggest an October release date for Google’s flagship device. In a report by CNET, the tech site said that they are still waiting to receive an invitation from Google for a major press event, but multiple sources all point to an October unveiling of the Nexus 5.

CNET noted that the October release date fits well into Google’s pattern. In 2012, the company’s Nexus upgrade was also scheduled in early autumn, but Hurricane Sandy’s arrival pushed back the date.

The new Nexus 5 is also expected to have the Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box, making it the first smartphone to run on the recently launched update to the Jelly Bean OS platform. Google has already formalized the platform, but the details are a complete mystery CNET reported. One again, the expected fall time frame was in line with previous Google releases. Androud 4.0 arrived in October 2011, and Android 4.2 was launched November 2012.

Like the Nexus 4, Google has teamed up with LG for its successor. An FCC leaked document showed a model identified as LG D820 with specs similar to the G2. Sources and bloggers who have sourced the document claim that the newly announced LG G2 has been an important reference for the new Nexus 5.

Another rumored item about the upcoming Nexus 5 is that it would be the biggest Google will ever release in terms of size. It is expected to have a 4.96-inch screen, making it the largest Nexus smartphone to date. CNET noted that it will have the same 1,920 x 1,080-pixel HD display like the LG G2.
