iPad Mini 2 Release Date Rumors: Rumored Specs On Upcoming Apple Tablet Include TouchID, Leaked Photo Reveal Gold And Gray Color Options For Smaller Tablet

iPad Mini 2’s release date is expected to be on October 15, as many reports and rumors suggest. There have been leaked images of the iPad Mini recently showing that the device maybe available in gold and gray color options. It is rumored that similar to the upcoming iPad 5, the next generation iPad Mini will also have the TouchID fingerprint sensor.

Chinese web site Pad Zol published some photos of a gold iPad Mini, which is a color that is now gaining popularity thanks to the new iPhone 5S, the Business Times reported. The website also posted photo of a device with Touch ID fingerprint sensor, another feature that was very much a key spec in the recently released iPhone upgrade.

French website, Mac Generation, was one of the first online media publications to claim the October 15 release date for the iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2, which will be launched together with the OS X Mavericks and new MacBook Pro Retina line. It is important to note that it is also being rumored that Google, a notable Apple competitor, will release the it’s Nexus 5 handset and Android 4.4 KitKat the day before on October 14.

The iPad Mini 2 is expected to retain its 7.9 inches screen display and add the 64-bit A7 processor and Touch ID fingerprint sensor, the Business Times reported. It is unlikely that Apple will raise the price of the iPad Mini. The current entry-level price for a new iPad Mini is at $329.00 and Apple would be wise to keep it in that level primarily because of intensified competition.

The new LG G Pad 8.3, Nexus 7 and Nexus 7.2, Amazon Kindle Fire HDX and Dell’s Venue 7 and Venue 8 tablets are all threats to the dominance of the smaller iPad. They’re price cheaper than the iPad Mini.
