Samsung revealed HomeSync, a box that connects Samsung Galaxy devices to your TV on the HomeSync, which runs on Android. Read on to find out more about the Samsung HomeSync price and release date details.

On Thursday, Samsung revealed the HomeSync, which has a price tag of $299 and a release date of October 6.

According to NBC News, the HomeSync has three basic features: It lets you play your videos and photos on your TV, save and access those media files on a central home network drive, and play movies and other content from the Internet via standard Android apps.

Instead of coming with a remote control, you control the HomeSync with your compatible Galaxy device.

HomeSync is different from other similar devices with lower prices, such as the $99 Apple TV or Google's $35 Chromecast, because it allows you to offload all those files for permanent storage, with a huge internal storage of nearly a terabyte, NBC News reports.

Samsung says that the HomeSync is compatible with the Galaxy S4 Note 3, S III, Note II, Note 8.0,

It runs on Android, and also works with Samsung mobile devices equipped with Samsung Link, which includes the 2014 edition of the Galaxy Note 10.1 and Galaxy Camera, CNET reports.

"HomeSync is a powerful platform that we envision to be the center of a household's connected life," Nanda Ramachandran, vice president of emerging business at Samsung Mobile, said in a press release. "We saw an opportunity to create a companion device at home, that seamlessly syncs all of your mobile content wherever you are."

Samsung HomeSync will be available at Samsung shops located inside Best Buy, as well as at Best Buy Mobile stores, Newegg, Amazon.com, and Samsung.com, CNET reports.

HomeSync hooks to a TV via HDMI, turning any set into a smart TV, Samsung said, PC Magazine reports. With 2GB of RAM, it runs a 1.7GHz Cortex A15 dual-core processor and Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, which can support a wired or wireless mouse and keyboard, Web browsing, YouTube, apps, games, social networking, and more.
