Microsoft Surface 2 release date on October 22 is preceded by very good news for its Redmond-based manufacturer. Microsoft wrote in its blog that the pre-order stock of Microsoft Surface 2, it’s higher-end counterpart, the Microsoft Surface Pro 2 and accessories for the gadget are nearly sold out.

According to Channelnomics, the strong demand for the Windows-powered tablet comes as Microsoft posts enterprise customer wins for its devices. The Microsoft Surface 2, the consumer version of the Windows tablet will officially be available on three weeks from now but is available for pre-order at MicrosftStore.com

“You may have heard the pre-order stock of the Arc Touch Mouse Surface Edition, Type Cover 2 in Purple and Black, and Touch Cover 2 has sold out at Microsoft Stores in the U.S. It also looks like pre-order stock of the Surface 2 (64GB) and Surface Pro 2 (256 GB and 512GB) are close to selling out — also at Microsoft Stores. We’re pretty happy about this, of course, given we just unveiled Surface 2, Surface Pro 2 and the new accessories to the world only a week or so ago,” wrote Surface general manager Brian Hall in the Surface blog, reported Channelnomics.

Microsoft has dubbed its Surface line as the “most productive tablets on the planet.” And many tech reviewers seem to agree as the early review of the Surface tablets are leaning onto the positive.

Microsoft Surface 2 runs on Windows RT 8.1 and has a 10.6 in ClearType Full HD display at 1920 x 1080. It runs on the Nvidia Tegra 4 processor and is available on both 32 GB and 64 GB storage. The Surface 2 can run on up to 10 hours on a single charge and Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11, USB 3.0, micro-SD expansion (up to 64GB), HD video-out port. Relative to its predecessor, Surface RT, the Surface 2 is thinner and lighter.

MicrosoftStore.com is offering the 32 GB Surface 2 at $449.00, with the 64 GB at $549. Both devices comes with free 200 GB SkyDrive Storage and unlimited Skype minutes. According to the company’s online storefront, pre-orders will ship on October 21, a day before the official release date.
