Cell Phone Throat-Slitting: Student Slashes Teacher's Throat For Confiscating Smart Phone In China, Killing Him

A student in China slit his teacher's throat after his cell phone was taken away from him.

The use of mobile devices by students during lessons at school is a world-wide issue...but the problem doesn't usually result in violence.

In China recently, trying to get a student to put his phone away went poorly. Very, very poorly.

The incident occurred at a middle school in Fuzhou, which is located in the eastern Chinese Jiangxi province. The student was found in chemistry class using his phone.

His teacher, Sun Wakang, took the phone away for the rest of the day, returning it to him right before school ended.

The next day, the student who had gotten his phone confiscated walked into Sun Wakang's classroom, snuck up quietly behind him, and slit his throat while he graded papers.

At that, the student fled the scene...and Sun Wakang, a 32-year-old father of one, bled to death.
A teacher in a neighboring classroom heard him screaming and called an ambulance immediately. Although it came quickly, the teacher had already bled out and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The student eventually admitted his crime and turned himself into the police in Shanghai. By then, though, it was too late-- Sun Wakang was dead.
Wakang, the teacher who was killed, had worked as a chemistry teacher in the school for five years until he was murdered. The surrounding community are stricken by the loss, particularly because it occurred during Teacher's Day, an official holiday that honors teachers.
