E.J. Manuel Out 6-8 Weeks: Report Says Bills QB Lateral Collaeral Ligament Sprain In Right Knee Following Hit Thursday Night After Not Running Out Of Bounds- Who Will Replace The Rookie?

E.J. Manuel out 6-8 weeks with a lateral collateral ligament sprain in his right knee that he suffered during Thursday Night Football against the Cleveland Browns.

It was after picking up a big first down that E.J. Manuel, the Buffalo Bills rookie-starting quarterback that was running down the sidelines and instead of going out of bounds, he took a hit from Tashaun Gipson that spun the QB around, in which he wasn't able to get up.

Joe Buscaglia of WGR 550 reported that E.J. Manuel will be out 6-8 weeks, even though the Bills head coach, Doug Marrone, said he will miss a "few weeks."

"It's early on now to really give an exact time frame or even a window. What we need right now is for it to calm down and see where it's at," Marrone told ESPN. "Probably in a week see how it's progressing, see where he is, then get it down into a little bit more of a window."

Undrafted rookie Jeff Tuel had to finish the game that Buffalo ultimately lost to even after the Browns starting quarterback was injured. After Brian Hoyer was injured, Brandon Weeden had to step in and play QB.

As far as who the Bills might sign to potentially play QB during this time period, it is still unknown.

"We will be looking to bring in another quarterback. We're in the process of that right now," Marrone said. "It's not a stretch [that the new quarterback starts against Cincinnati]. I think it all depends on who it is, what we get, what their background is in their system."
