Sinead O'Connor Ends Miley Cyrus Twitter Feud; Get In Last Licks (Of a Sledgehammer)

Sinead O'Connor called a ceasefire on her Twitter feud with Miley Cyrus. But not before getting in a few last licks at the "Wrecking Ball" singer.

The Daily Mail reported that Sinead O'Connor took a last bash at Miley Cyrus on the "Late Late Show" in Ireland on Friday. Sinead O'Connor told Ryan Tubridy, who hosts the program, that when Miley Cyrus decided to bring Amanda Bynes into the argument, it "was a nasty thing to do." Although Sinead O'Connor admitted that it wasn't likely that Miley Cyrus intentionally meant to hurt Amanda Bynes.

O'Connor said "It's about music being murdered, it's not actually about Miley. As far as I'm concerned it's over. It's not something I really want to talk about."

Sinead O'Connor left the Miley Cyrus VMAs 2013 performance alone and went after the music industry instead, saying "The money-making end of music is taking over," she said. "Why I would engage in wanting to talk to certain artists is ... as a mother and ... as a person who loves music and believes in its power to change things. I was asked to wear mini-skirts and grow my hair and that is why I shaved my hair. I wanted to be genuinely judged on my talent and not how I looked."

Last week, Sinead O'Connor wrote an open letter penned a note criticizing Miley Cyrus. Sinèad O'Connor is no stranger to controversy. Sinèad O'Connor, who has over 20 years' experience in the music business, wanted to pass on advice in an open letter to Miley Cyrus. O'Connor was responding to Miley Cyrus's comments that the music video for her new song "Wrecking Ball" was inspired by the music video Sinèad O'Connor's cover of Prince's song "Nothing Compares 2 You."

Miley Cyrus took to Twitter to bash the bald singer. She tweeted "Before Amanda Bynes.... There was....," followed by a link to an image of January 2012 Tweets that are believed to be written by Sinead. Miley also posted a photo of Sinead's infamous SNL appearance in 1992 when she warned that Pope John Paul II was "the real enemy."

In the letter to Miley Cyrus, Sinèad O'Connor wrote "I am extremely concerned for you that those around you have led you to believe, or encouraged you in your own belief, that it is in any way 'cool' to be naked and licking sledgehammers in your videos. It is in fact the case that you will obscure your talent by allowing yourself to be pimped, whether it's the music business or yourself doing the pimping."

The open letter to Miley Cyrus continued "The music business doesn't give a sh*t about you, or any of us. They will prostitute you for all you are worth, and cleverly make you think its what YOU wanted... and when you end up in rehab as a result of being prostituted, 'they' will be sunning themselves on their yachts in Antigua, which they bought by selling your body and you will find yourself very alone."

Sinèad thinks that Miley Cyrus missed the spirit of the "Nothing Compares 2 You" video. She wrote, "The look I chose, I chose on purpose at a time when my record company were encouraging me to do what you have done. I felt I would rather be judged on my talent and not my looks. I am happy that I made that choice, not least because I do not find myself on the proverbial rag heap now that I am almost 47 yrs of age, which unfortunately many female artists who have based their image around their sexuality, end up on when they reach middle age."
