Maleficent Movie Cast Angelina Jolie Reveals Her Secret In Perfecting The Voice Of The Mistress Of All Evil; ‘I Didn’t Know What To Do With The Voice’

Maleficent movie cast Angelina Jolie gladly shared her secret in perfecting the voice of the "Mistress of All Evil" in her upcoming Disney movie.

In her effort to give the classic fairy tale's most iconic villain the best representation that she could, the 38-year-old actress would practice on her kids to perfect the voice of Maleficent.

"I didn't know what to do with the voice ... so when I give my kids a bath at night I would tell them stories in different voices," she said, "this particular voice they couldn't stop laughing."

"The bigger I got, the more they laughed," she added.

Jolie, also admitted that she was really fascinated with Maleficent even as a young girl, saying:

"When I was little ... I didn't relate to princesses," she told "Good Morning America's" co-anchor George Stephanopoulos. "I saw Maleficent, and I just thought she was so - she was so elegant."

Maleficent movie cast Angelina Jolie also expressed her "love" for her role in a separate interview, telling Entertainment Weekly, "I was quite sad to put my staff down and put my horns away because somehow, she just lives in a different world," Jolie admitted. "But I did have to take my staff home to practice walking with it in my cloak. Then I would go outside and scream at the bushes to expand my voice and play with my voice. So, mom was a bit nutso for a period," Brad Pitt's fiancee quipped.

Elle Fanning, who plays Princess Aurora, on the other hand says she was "always sort of intrigued" by the mistress of all evil Maleficent while watching the original, animated Sleeping Beauty (made in 1959) as a child.

The young actress also expresses her delight in working with a big star as she told Us Weekly that it was "a dream" working with Jolie on the movie. "She really got into her character in a way," Fanning revealed. "Like, she was very, so into the details of her clothes. She came into rehearsals on the first day with her Maleficent staff and she was in normal clothes, but had that. She was like 'I have to get used to it. It's part of my character.'"

"It's a reinvention, not just a retelling of the same story," screenwriter Linda Woolverton explains in the video. "[We] created a past for her that lead to the moment in which she curses Aurora, then takes us past that moment from Maleficent's point of view."
