Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Review, Update: Android 4.4 KitKat For Smartphone Roll Out Remains Very Slow; Faster Access To OS May Come By June

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 review, update: The Android 4.4 KitKat for the much-loved Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is still being rolled out, more than a month after it began. Gotta Be Mobile notes that the release of the new OS to users “has been extremely slow.”

The site noted that typically it would take only a couple of weeks before a massive push for a new platform is seen, but this has not been the case with the Android 4.4 KitKat. It’s possible though that faster access to the new mobile OS by Google will come by June, right before the Google I/O conference.

The definite thing is that the OS will be available for Note 2 users. SamFirmware notes that there have been 11 Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat updates pushed out for the GT-N7100 model in May. There has also been an update for the GT-N7105 variant of the handset. GBM pointed out that the GT-N7105 is only available in Nordic countries.

Though the 4.4 KitKat rollout for the Note 2 has not been Samsung’s best, it’s still showing signs of life and it’s expected that the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update will be pushed out to every Samsung Galaxy Note 2 model in every single region of the world.

The Android 4.4.2 KitKat and the upcoming Android 4.4.3 OS update is already being pushed and though the Note 2 has yet to complete the first update, it’s still very much possible that it would be having the Android 4.4.2 and Android 4.4.3 as well very soon.

As far as obsolescence is concerned, the issue is not likely for Note 2, at least from information available so far. Such thinking toward the Note 2 is mainly prompted by Samsung’s decision to not provide any further updates with the S3.

The Note 2, however, is a much younger device and is expected to get official updates from its manufacturer this year.
